About us
At Red Barn Rescue, we believe every animal deserves a second chance — a chance to heal, to be loved, and to find a forever home. Based in San Diego, CA, and Baja, Mexico, we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned.
With the help of our incredible foster families, each animal is given safety, care, and compassion while they recover and prepare for adoption.
Every adoption is a story of transformation — a moment where love replaces fear, and heartbreak turns into hope. At Red Barn Rescue, we see each rescue as a ripple of kindness that changes lives, one animal at a time.
How it all starts
The call
Sadly, everyday we receive multiple calls, texts and emails asking for help. We receive reports of dogs stuck in ditches, living in cars and abandoned buildings and vacant homes; sick, injured, starved and thrown out of moving vehicles. We network to find, treat, love and rehome each pooch.
The rescue
Abused, abandoned, and neglected dogs of all ages from newborn puppies to aging seniors have the greatest need. So once we reach them, what do we do? We patiently gain their trust to show them kindness, love and the security to know their days of fear and pain are behind them.

Volunteer
Volunteering is a fabulous way to help our rescue. Whether it be helping transport our rescues to veterinary appointments, delivering supplies to our fosters, or spending a day at an adoption event and helping set up, take down and in between, spend time under a puppy pile, there is always a need for additional support.
Foster
Quite honestly, the more approved fosters we have, the more animals we can rescue. We simply cannot take in more animals if we do not have a plan in place for their care. We provide all the essentials and ask that you provide a kind and loving temporary home until a forever home is found. Who knows, that forever might just be you!
Adopt
Our goal is for all of our rescues to be welcomed into loving forever homes. We do our best to pair up animals with the perfect family and make it our commitment to follow-up and ensure it remains a perfect fit. Please consider adopting your next furbaby.
